THINGS YOU MAY NEED TO CONSIDER
We don’t want to disillusion you, but before you consider a performance upgrade, you may need to consider the following:
- Chassis weight distribution
- Effects of unsprung mass changes on suspension rates
- Pressure alterations throughout the hydraulic system
- Heat dissipation
- Grip requirement of tyres to accept upgraded braking capacity
- Suspension spring & shock absorber rates to manage weight transfer
- Requirements of booster system to provide the correct proportional pressures throughout operational range
BETTER BRAKING IS A LOT MORE THAN JUST BIGGER DISCS AND BIGGER CALIPERS. ENGINEERING BRAKE UPGRADES IS QUITE INVOLVED AND REQUIRES SERIOUS CONSIDERATION TO THE ENTIRE SYSTEM.
Steel Braided Brake Lines: Most cars come with rubber brake lines, which flex when you put your foot on the brake pedal as the pressure in the lines increase. Rubber lines also deteriorate much faster than braided lines. Upgrading your brake lines is an excellent way of making your brakes more responsive and last longer. By resisting flex, (common in standard rubber lines), BRAIDED LINES provide a firmer pedal for more positive control under all conditions. BRAKERITE (in conjunction with her sister Company, AAA Brake & Mechanical) manufacture all types of brake line IN HOUSE at the workshop situated at 1/15 Gillam Drive, Kelmscott. WA.
When enhancing vehicles, the one thing that is most commonly overlooked is the braking system. A common mistake is to increase the performance of a vehicle and then expect the factory braking system to cope with the extra load.
Our performance upgrades allow for maximum stopping power and improved safety. The type of brakes you install on your car has a large influence on how the car feels and handles, especially when driven hard.
